Small Room Collective is a mobile mercantile & gallery space built in a gutted, hand-reconstructed 1963 Airstream Globetrotter, functioning as a gallery-shop-by-day and a studio-home-by-night. We feature art, pressed vinyl, apparel and small goods from independent makers and shakers as well as vintage clothing gathered on our travels across the U.S—connecting 60+ indie makers, shakers & artists since setting sail at SXSW in 2013.
It all started out as a bit of a hair-brained scheme a few years ago! We left Austin in 2011, as we began traveling for Lauren’s job as a travel nurse, moving about every 3 months. On her days off we were setting up at markets selling the vintage she collected. Travis thought it would be cool to somehow incorporate the work of artists that we were meeting at various markets and through our travels. So we decided to get a trailer that we could live in and have a shop out of. Ha! And here we are today. We started with about 12 artists–some were friends and some were folks we reached out to because we liked what they were doing.
Now we feature over 60 artists that we have met out on the road, and we are growing all the time! We love traveling, working with awesome venues and movements from city to city, and spreading the love for independent makers and shakers across the country! Needless to say, we are excited to come to Lancaster, PA and to jam with the lovely people of Lancaster Transplant and the burgeoning creative community therein. We hope you join SRC & Lancaster Transplant for a good old time, Thursday June 18 at Thistle Finch Distillery & Wacker Brewing Co.
