November 14th, 2013 — Lancaster Transplant Mixer
We hosted our first official event last Thursday, a Mixer at Sunshine Art + Design. From 7 PM onwards, people flowed in and packed the gallery, wall to wall. With each new face came a new story, a handshake and a new connection. We started the evening with snacks, a speciality drink created by the lovely Diane, and an atmosphere that set the positive vibe. Surrounded by air plants, paintings, white walls and concrete floors, the space came alive with every new person to step inside its doors.
Entrepreneurs, teachers, writers, designers, artists, and philanthropists alike, came together. Individuals shared their passions, some were welcomed to their new city and others were able to share the secrets of Lancaster. Magnets were on offer, there were more than enough for everyone. Cards galore, lovingly stamped and signed by the Founder and the Socialite.
The conversations crept late into the evening, with just enough time to meet and greet those I had never met before. There were at least 60-70 attenders, more than half of which were Transplants. Locals balanced us out, and the community foundation was built.
I have never been so excited to move forward with a concept, one that means so much to so many people. I had an amazing time and felt lucky to bring such a gathering together, to continue to provide ways and reasons for us all to connect.
So here we are, Lancaster Transplant, and this is what we are all about.
